The Ruda Quarry is located entirely within the area of the "Cistercian Landscape Compositions of Rudy Wielkie" Landscape Park. In its north-west part there is the "Ruda" aggregate deposit. Moreover, the "Łężczok" Reserve is located approximately 5 km from the exploited area. It also includes one area of the Natura 2000 network, the Special Protection Area for Birds - "Stawy Łężczok". In the west direction, about 5 km from the area covered by the exploitation of the "Ruda" deposit, in the Opolskie Voivodeship there is a Protected Landscape Area "Wronin-Maciowakrze Region". The listed areas are intended to protect valuable, wild natural areas.
The zoo in Ostrava (Czech Republic) is 55 km away from KSM Ruda, and the zoo in Chorzów (Poland) is 65 km away. Such places play an important educational role. Numerous educational boards and descriptions of animal and plant species allow visitors to learn about the role of individual elements of the environment. In Ostrava, we can see, among others masked lapwing (Vanellus miles), which are Australian relatives of our native lapwings, for which we create our project. There, we can also see an educational trail with figures of amphibians and reptiles, and a special zone that allows them to survive and reproduce. That is why it is so important to getting knowledge to be able to use it for the protection of animals and plants.
