We are in the last step of our fieldwork. During the majority of nights of June, two of us sampled amphibian populations in the quarries using photo-identification.
This effective and not invasive method allows to clearly identify animals thanks to their outline and spots, that remain unchanging along their lives. Once we compiled several photos, we can analyze if some individuals coincide among different nights. In that case, we will achieve a “match”, indicating a recapture.
With this and using further data (sex, geolocations, weight...) we can study the use of quarries by amphibians, their bearing or even to try to obtain population sizes by using capture-mark-recapture data.
